ABOUT OUR LOGO
Africa
Our new logo was inspired by a rosewood cross from Africa (carved by Makonde
artisans from Tanzania). This connection to East Africa is meaningful to us, given that our Rwandan sister congregation, Matimba Parish, is located just a few miles from Rwanda's border with Tanzania.
Church Universal
Through its trinitarian symbols, the logo affirms our connection with the Church universal. Creator (hands reaching down), Son (hands reaching out), and Holy Spirit (dove) are shown, as well as our human hunger for love, forgiveness, and transcendence (the hands reaching up).
ELCA
The color scheme of our new logo echo the colors of the logo of our Lutheran denomination, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), thus affirming our Lutheran identity.
Advent
The name and tagline on the logo ("The Welcome Place") reflects the unique character of our own local church community, Advent Lutheran Church in Citrus Heights.
