Advent's Second Pastor Will Preach on September 25
Celebrating 60 Years of Ordained Ministry by Preaching at his First Congregation
The Rev. Dr. Herbert E. Anderson served as pastor at Advent shortly after being ordained (1962-1966). While being at Advent, he and his wife, the Rev., Phyllis B. Anderson, got married and lived in the small house on top of our hill. This year, Pastor Anderson is celebrating his 60th ordination anniversary ... and he is doing so by preaching at each of the places where he served as pastor.
For both of them, this was the beginning of a long and illustrious career in theological education, which for Phyllis eventually culminated in her serving for eight years at the President of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (2005-2013).
A potluck reception in Advent's Fellowship Hall will follow the worship service!
