Advent is the sister congregation to the Matimba Parish in eastern Rwanda. The parish started in February 2007. It has one congregation with 115 members. Matimba is a trading center with a main road from Kigali to the Ugandan border.

Pastor Ruhinda Theoneste has been in ministry for 15 years. He is married to Grace and has 3 daughters (Irene, 14;  Edith, 12; Hope, 8) and one son (Prince, 4).

The parish's current activities include:

     Home visits - preaching, praying, assisting, counseling, healing, and reconciling members and non members to revive, waken, and increasing people's interest in Christianity

     Sunday services with baptism, confirmation, Holy communion and preaching, including 3 choirs: women's choir, youth choir and Sunday school choir

     Garden planting around the church building to improve the environment

     Fundraising for youth choir uniforms, music instruments and church building renovation

     Prayer for their children's health and education

Advent provides prayers for the parish, and monetary support.

In July, 2010, Pastor Katy and Dylan King visited Matimba Parish when they traveled to Rwanda with the Sierra Pacific Synod Youth Committee.
