Advent is the sister congregation to the Matimba Parish in eastern Rwanda. The parish started in February 2007. It has one congregation with 115 members. Matimba is a trading center with a main road from Kigali to the Ugandan border.

Pastor Ruhinda Theonest has been in ministry for 13 years. He is married and has 3 daughters and one son.

The parish's current activities include:

     Home visits - preaching, praying, assisting, counseling, healing, and reconciling members and non members to revive, waken, and increasing people's interest in Christianity

     Sunday services with baptism, confirmation, Holy communion and preaching, including 3 choirs; women's choir, youth choir and Sunday school choir

     Garden planting around the church building to improve the environment

     Fundraising for youth choir uniforms, music instruments and church building renovation

     Prayer for their children's health and education

Advent provides prayers for the parish - especially the children - and monetary support. In addition to the congregational support, this year's Sunday School offering will be sent to Matimba!
