Pastor Katy began at Advent in March, 2008 - her first call. A 2006 MDiv graduate of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA, Pastor Katy continued her studies at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley for an additional year, and completed her MA in Liturgical Studies in May 2009.

Pastor Katy, a native of North Dakota, is "genetically Lutheran" - and was raised in a family that was active in their congregations her entire childhood. Her first career was not in the church, however - she is a Certified Athletic Trainer, and worked at the University of Kansas Athletics Department for 11 years, as an Assistant Athletic Trainer (for football and track, primarily) and an instructor in the athletic training academic program.

Pastor Katy has a heart for youth, young adults, teaching, preaching and worship. She can often be found hanging out in coffee shops, reading Martin Luther, emerging church theology, and fiction of all kinds (usually with at least one Jane Austen book in the lineup).
