Love Door
Surprise your child on Valentine's Day with a
decorated bedroom door. Use streamers, balloons, and
colorful paper to cover the door. Create posters
celebrating your child's unique qualities such as
creativity, musical ability, or friendliness. Your
decorated "love door" will say "Happy Valentine's
Day" and celebrate your child.
Hearty Breakfast
Cook a special Valentine's breakfast with a heart
theme. Use heart shaped cookie cutters to create
Valentine pancakes, French toast, or fried eggs.
Serve red cranberry juice and strawberries to match
the theme. Before the kids head out the door for the
day, read aloud Matthew 23:37 and have the entire
family share one way they can love God with all
their hearts this Valentine's Day.
Communicate Love
Parenthood can become so busy that it's easy to
neglect communicating to your children how much
they're loved. So use these quick tips to express
your love to your children daily.
*
Words say it. Before they board the
school bus, while they're playing a video game, or
during homework time, say those three powerful
little words: "I love you."
*Shower them with affection. A gentle
touch or a big hug can silently express love to your
child. Let your child sit on your lap, gently rub
his or her back while watching TV, or grad your
child's hand in the car.
*See them. Watch your child often - as
they play, work, or go to sleep. Your admiring eyes
express love.
*Give them limits. Sometimes love is
best expresses by giving your children guidelines
and limits. Boundaries tell your children you care,
even if they argue against the rules.
*Cheer them on. Notice the great things
your children do an accomplish. Show interest in
their activities and support them as they pursue
their talents. |
